European Union awards Asumma funding for ecological CLT house platform
The European Union and Finland’s ELY Center of Northern Ostrobothnia award Asumma a technology grant to develop a digital platform for building ecological CLT (massive wood) homes.
Asumma Group has received a technology grant from the European Union, through Finland’s Center for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Center of Northern Ostrobothnia), in order to develop a house construction platform as part of the Innovative Finland program.
With this funding, Asumma will develop a platform for parametric mass customization of low-carbon wooden houses. The primary objective of the project is to develop a digital tech platform that will allow house buyers to purchase customized, environmentally-friendly CLT (cross-laminated timber) houses at affordable prices.
The digital platform will combine the development of several software modules using the latest architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) technologies. Asumma’s project goal is to develop the tech enabling its growth of the prefabricated CLT housing market and drive a significant increase in the construction of solid wood houses in Europe.
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is part of the EU Cohesion policy. It aims to strengthen the economic, social, and territorial cohesion in the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions, supporting economic recovery, job creation, competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability. It delivers on the Union’s political priorities, especially the green and digital transition.
